7th/8th Grade Band

7th and 8th Grade Band meets three times a week (Monday/Wednesday/Friday), opposite 6th Grade Band. Students will also have an individual or small group lesson each week.
In 7th and 8th Grade Band we will continue to work to improve our skills in the areas of: tone, posture, note & rhythmic accuracy, articulations, dynamics, blend & balance, intonation, steady beat, tempo.
Band members will participate in three concerts during the school year: November/March/May.
We start the school year with marching band, then switch to concert band. In January and February we will focus on chamber music by working in large ensembles (woodwind, brass, percussion) that we will perform at the conference Solo & Ensemble music festival. We also participate in the conference Large Group Band Festival. Members are encourage to share their musical talent in their community in "Summer Band" in both community parades (Black Earth Field Days Parade Float and Mazomanie Wild West Days Marching Band & Color Guard), at the Wisconsin Heights Craft Fair, Veteran's Day Program, at Heartland Country Village nursing home, and at a home basketball game for "Pep Band Night". Students can participate in "Jazz Band" which meets once a week after school. Members can attend the UW Varsity Band Concert in April and every other year take in a Broadway show.
